Bassett Road | A Home Made Personal
Having recently moved to New Zealand, my client had purchased a house that she wanted to make her own. The interiors were predominantly white, and she was keen to introduce colour and personality throughout, with each room having its own character while still feeling connected to the rest of the home.
I began by developing a colour palette for the house, selecting individual colours for each room that worked together tonally while giving each space its own identity. I also worked through the furniture layouts, incorporating the pieces my client was bringing over from overseas and identifying the additional furniture and furnishings needed to complete the home.
From furniture selection and procurement to coordinating the delivery of existing and new items, I managed the process of bringing everything together. On installation day, I was on hand to direct the movers and oversee the placement of furniture throughout the house, from the kitchen and bedrooms to the living areas. By the end of the day, the beds were made and the main pieces were in place.
From there, the home evolved gradually as we introduced the finishing layers. Artwork, lighting, rugs, cushions and decorative pieces added colour, texture and personality, creating depth and a more collected feel over time.
The result was a home that felt personal to my client, making use of the pieces she already loved while introducing new elements that brought everything together. It was about more than furnishing an empty house; it was about creating a home that felt like hers from the moment she moved in.
